Enter the hilariously tragic world of Mel and his sickly state and story in Unwell Mel. In this fun-filled match 3 adventure, you are a physician – tasked to gather the evidence, eliminate gunk and bugs, and clear the symptoms pestering our unwilling subject named Mel, and gradually resolve a diagnosis for him, one disease at time. Hence is the plot of this funny casual game from Big Fish Games.

As you go onto the game itself, the first level will situate you into a tutorial like phase. The game introduces you with some of the basic controls of the game starting with the pertaining mechanics of matching. In this level, a score objective is simply set in order to briefly guide you with the basic mechanics of the game as you pair and match the random stack of tiles on the field. Each level varies from scoring a certain number of points to obtaining several specific objective tiles to complete the level. Each level in the game also portrays either an underlying symptom on Mel’s body, or simply an affected part of his body due to some sort of disease. By meeting the specific instructions, you’ll clear the body part of any symptom or illness and gradually cure him one sickness at a time.

The game gives you considerable amount of boosts to help you clear its levels. Combination of 4 same tiles for example will provide you with random power tiles capable of blowing an entire row or column, or reward you with additional in-game resource. Matching 5 tiles on the other hand will give you a rainbow tile capable of clearing a lot of tiles in the playing field. Swapping two adjacent power tiles shall also produce great moves that will destroy a hefty amount of tiles at play.

As you take on the different illnesses of your patient, a gradual increase over the number of puzzles will be introduced in order to clear a particular disease or illness. Concurrently, as you progress through the levels of the game, they’ll prove to become harder to defeat as more tiles will be introduced on screen, harder layouts will be introduced, and more random task shall be required.

Similar to a lot of match 3 games too, you are also given the set of options to help you on sticky situations. Some additional sets of game boosters in the form of special medical items can be purchased from a salesman and passively be used over the puzzles as you gather their concluding refill tiles on the playing field. Each medical item bought will permanently be available to use and relatively be replenished as long as you get to match a dedicated tile to fill its gauge. They come in the form of droppers, syringe, and the like, and should help breeze you through the levels of the game.

Overall, Unwell Mel should have no problems of handing out the perfect entertainment for those in need of a simple casual game that is easy to understand, relatively fun to play, and a game that kicks in a lot of challenge.
